Return To Civilization...And All Of It's Trappings

Thank you, thank you, it's good to be back. Sequoia National Park was a gorgeous, unspoiled piece of California wilderness that I'm happy to report has been preserved through a socialistic agenda of applying tax dollars taken from hard working Americans and using them to maintain a communist paradise that everyone is free to enjoy regardless of how much you originally contributed to the cause. Oh, and the Marxian propaganda leaflets distributed by the America-hating park rangers were very convincing, especially the school field trip versions.

Seriously though, unplugging for a few days felt really good and the park was practically perfect. My buddies and I hiked some beautiful mountain country, consumed large amounts of alcohol and enjoyed the seared and roasted flesh of several different animal species. The picture from my farewell post is exactly what our campsite looked like when the sun came up every morning except for the lack of falling pine cones. If you're unaware, apparently squirrels think it's incredibly hilarious to loosen Sequoia pine cones from their branches some eighty to a hundred feet up that turn into several pound apiece missiles that hit the ground with an ominous, echoing thud that eventually forced one of our neighbors to abandon his site a bit early on the last morning. Ah nature, so like us... So, what'd I miss around here?

Sounds like a great trip. You ought to head over/up to Jackson Hole and check out the Grand Tetons one day... that was my summer hiking trip of note.
